Scott Waterhouse is a graduate of Samford University ('79). He is a lifelong learner and leader. He is a true renaissance man, whose talents span visual arts (drawing, painting, and photography), poetry, preaching, public speaking, leadership, management, administration and even a short stint as a radio DJ. His leadership experience began in the seventh grade, when he started the "Smart Set" club. Within a year the club grew not only in numbers but also was recognized by the mayor and police department Birmingham, Alabama. He also received a letter of accomindation from former US President, Richard M. Nixon.
Waterhouse has continued to grow throughout life adding knowledge, skills, and practical experience to be a better person than he was the day before. The old saying, "if you continue to do what you've always done, you'll continue to get what you've always gotten." He says, "I believe within in each person their is a spirit waiting to be unleased. A special spirit in each and everyone waiting to step outside of our comfort zone to greatness."
One thing that stands out in Scott's life is that he has always had a passion for helping others reach their goals and dreams. Whether with friends or co-workers he has shared his knowledge and expertise with a passion for enlightening, empowering and encouraging others to to reach new heights in their lives.
Scott Waterhouse has been in leadership and management positions for over 25 years. In those positions he has been a manager, supervisor, instuctor and trainer, personal and professional coach. He is also an ordained minister, 1979 (Baptist) with a strong spiritual presence. In his ministry work he has performed family and individual counseling, self-awareness, crisis counseling, spiritual and personal development.
As a volunteer, Waterhouse has worked with universities, local, state and non-profit organizations for over 20 years lending his expertise in leadership, event planning, project and program management, and organizational skills to assist these groups and organizations to hold successful meetings, events and programs. As a bi-vocational minister, volunteer, and professional, Mr. Waterhouse has been a guest speaker and panelist at numerous local, state and national conferences and events, as well as facilitating workshops and seminars. He has produced training and technical materials for state government and agencies, non-profits, businesses and for ministerial use. Scott's vast business and non-profit background has given him a unique perspective on life, along with the practical knowledge and expertise to coach clients.
Waterhouse was honored by the North Carolina Association of Information and Referral Specialists with a lifetime membership. In 1994, he received the NC Governor's Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service. The Mechanical Contractors of North Carolina honored Scott with a 2005 Distinguished Service Award for providing assistance and expertise to their continuing education program.
